Demon Sword Ritual

The ritual involves using a Spirit (in this case, a Demon) to create a Sapient Artifact. The demon becomes permanently bound to the weapon and any sorcerous bindings the ritual user specifies as part of the ritual (typically used as a Code of Conduct for autonomous operation or a right of succession to be passed down, given or traded). The Artifact is treated as having a Rating equal to the permanent Essence +1 of the Demon and grants the ability to access the Demon’s Charm List at the time of its creation as Evocations. Adding +1 to the Artifact rating also allows the Demon to keep half its own Essence Pool which can be used to fuel its Evocations. Access to each individual Charm is treated as an Evocation, and can have either XP or Story requirements to unlock.

The Demon’s weapon form has the statistics of the creator’s desired Artifact template (Artifact 3). Demons with some variant of the Shapechange Charm gain the ability to become a number of different forms equal to their permanent Essence Rating. Demon Swords do not respire Essence in combat, but otherwise recover (Artifact Rating) motes per hour.

Cutman are the foot soldiers of Malfeas, bred to be ruthless and capable infantry. Their trademark red skin is well known throughout the Demon Realm and they’re prized by mortal Demonologists for their fighting prowess. A Cutman bound into sword has the following evocations:

Measure the Wind

This ability allows the wielder to assess what type of creature a target she can perceive is. This Charm defeats mundane disguises but cannot contest magical disguises, such as Charms or other magic. While this Charm is explitic enough to determine the Aspect of a Dragon-Blooded, it is not potent enough to determine the Caste of a Celestial Exalt.

This Charm grants the ability to take a flurry for a single turn without penalty to Defense or either action and allows the user to make an attack action twice in a flurry.

Shapechange

The Cutman can alter its form to become even more intimidating when taking to the fields of battle. This grants the creature a +2 to Charisma on social rolls to intimidate opponents it engages in battle.

Special: This Charm allows the Demon to switch freely between a Light (Wakizashi) and Heavy (Zanbatō) sword.

Razor Blade Slash

This Charm grants double 9s on damage rolls made with the Demon Sword. Rolling 5+ successes on the attack roll confers double 8s on the damage roll.

Sword in Hand
Cost: 1m; Prereqs: Essence 2

This Charm allows the Demon to reflexively arm itself with any un-owned weapon in close range. Further, the Demon can spend additional motes equal to twice the resource value of a weapon to arm itself with an essence clone of that weapon, changing the duration of this Charm to a scene.

This Charm allows the Demon to make a melee attack out to Medium Range, defended by the target as normal.

Bronze Essence Skin
Cost: 2m+; Prereqs: Essence 2

This Charm allows the demon to increase its natural soak by 1 per 2 motes spent. The demon can spend up to (Essence x 2) motes on this Charm.
